Hi
Got myself an Einstein and replaced the broken old PSU with a PT-65b but when switching on I get a blank blue screen which occasionally flickers. Thinking it might just be the RF I did the 5v mod to use a BBC scart but I get the same results.
There's life in the old beast, when I press ctrl-brk it tries to access the disk, so I'm thinking it's maybe a problem with the TMS9129NL from what I've read in other posts.
I'm a beginner at this stuff, although I can wave a soldering iron about a bit. I'm hoping one of you guys can confirm my suspicions or point out other potential problems.

Welcome on board!
If you did the 5V mod and used a beeb SCART did you also set the internal jumpers for RGB rather than YUV?

Pressing CTRL + G should make a beep noise. Does that work?

Re: BSOD
The only IC that gets even a little bit warm is the TMS9129NL, although certainly nothing to worry about. But I got an IC from http://www.buy-transistors.com/ics/tms9129nl.html (last one) so I think I'll see if replacing that will help, if not I'll grab a couple of TMS4416-15NL and see if the RAM is the problem.
Just need to wait for some sockets to come thru the post, so if anyone has any other advise please shout up

Damn, getting that board out was a bitch. Which idiot thought putting a button on one side and a volumn control on the other side was a good idea? My machine is mint, so I didn't want to dissasemble more than I needed, but ended up stripping the thing down completly
I'm so stressed now, and used up so much time that I'm gonna have to leave the soldering 'till another day. Busy the next few days so maybe get it done on Sunday.

Re: BSOD
I watched a video on YouTube about someone taking one apart to fix it and it looked pretty painful!
Luckily I have only had to remove a keyboard so far.
