Hello all
I should be getting my TC01 back shortly from being repaired and would like to fit a gotek to it.
Currently I have two disc drives fitted inside Albert.
I have an external gotek that I use with my BBC micros - it has a beeb floppy cable attached and I can use a beeb for power in the short term. Can I use this or do I need to get another?

It looks like I may need one of these to hook up the power internally?
Do I need to swap the 5 and 12V cables around at the gotek end? I see that someone selling kits (https://www.simulant.uk/shop/Tatung-Ein ... earch=Tc01) suggests this is required?
A look at my hardware manual also suggests this is the case:

I think the main thing to watch for is the voltages. On the 256, I need to swap two colours round, so the 12 doesn't go the 5.

Typically the molex adaptor is nowhere near long enough. That comes from ordering blind I guess.
I tried plugging the gotek into the external drive port but just get no sector 0 or similar. I will clean the pins properly and give it another try.
I unplugged the main drive connector near the back and plugged the gotek floppy cable into it and it worked a treat! My Beeb is currently supplying the power as it has a long cable.
Just need a more permanent solution.

Cleaned the pins on the external drive connector and all good!
I now have my beeb gotek connected to the external drive connector, I stole a PSU from my Amstrad CPC 6128 external gotek and connected it all up. I disconnected the power to the original internal drive 0
My gotek is now drive 0, my internal drive 1 is still drive 1. The internal drive 0 is doing nothing at the moment.

Good thread this - it gave me enough of a push to connect a micro-gotek/ff to my Einstein, which is so much easier than trying to find floppies.

Hi Will
Glad to hear it! Next stage is an internal gotek so I can reclaim my external one and tidy the desk a little. I’m struggling to find anyone doing an adaptor however so it may take a while.

A friend of mine printed me the bracket in this post : https://www.tatung-forum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=60 and having offered it up it appears to fit quite well. The bracket does need a bit of filling/painting (it's white) before final fit, and it will need to creative thinking as the frame holes are just out of alignment, but I confident I can bodgeit, erm I mean make it fit properlyLardo Boffin wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 11:46 amHi Will
