Re: Joystick
I think the hardware manual on the big main tatung einstein site has the pin out. I think the 256 is different from the tc-01.

Re: Joystick
If it's the Atari to Tatung joysticks adapter, IIRC the schematic appeared in "Einstein Monthly"; but can't remember the exact issue...
Anyway, I guess that you've already built it without problems, does it work fine?. I'll need soon to get some joysticks for my machines and it's near to impossible to find one of the analog originals.
And yes, I believe that the TC-01 and TCS-256 doesn't share the same joysticks. Thanks Tatung!

Yes it works fine
It’s a analog pc stick £3.99 + £2 post off eBay

Re: Joystick
I found the adapter you mentioned it’s in issue 3
I built one and yes works a treat but not out of the box
it needs a bit of adjustment to get going

Re: Joystick
Anyway, yours seems to be a different kind of adapter as you have used a PC analog joystick, not an Atari one. Are the PC analog joysticks really compatible with the input signals needed for the Einstein!, that's new to me!...and pretty exciting too, PC items are way cheap than the original ones.

Re: Joystick
No the pc joystick is rewired with a 7 pin din no adapter needed
I built the adapter you pointed me for atari sticks and I think the atari ones feel a bit better
I need to use them a bit more to make my mind up

Re: Joystick
Do you have a schematic of how have you rewired the connector?. Looking at both pinouts, they're slightly different (what's that VREF pin?)

Re: Joystick
No I just rewired the potentiometers
Channel 0 and 1 go to the wipes then signal ground and 0v to one side and voltage reference to the other
Can’t do a diagram as different makes use slightly different wiring
Once you’ve rewired the pots you can fit the seven pin din
Hope this helps
PS I think the atari interface is probably the way to go
