Hi,
Pretty much what the subject says - am looking for one or the other, working, for a reasonable price...
Wanted: EinSDein or Silicon Disk
Re: Wanted: EinSDein or Silicon Disk
Does the creator still make them? Maybe if we can get a bunch of people to order them he'll do a run, his last post was may this year so he's still around. Or if not, is there enough info on his blog to recreate them (if it's opensource). I don't know much about electronics but gonna read over his blog when I get time.

I don't know whether Charlie is still making the EinSDein. I could reach out to him. I have read on here that Tony, who designed the original RAM based Silicon Disk has been in poor health and was selling off a batch of PCBs. The Silicon Disk would be ideal as I'm pretty sure it was what made up my original dev system in the late 80s. I suppose I could install a Gotek - though am not sure if you can up the capacity of the disk images on them. Some of the source disks I've inherited from Software Creations need to be assembled in one pass, but the files are on both sides of the disk. So you need to copy them onto something that has more than 180KB capacity to do that. If that makes sense.Preppie wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 11:12 am Does the creator still make them? There is a bunch on info here about Goteks running larger disc images:

If you are looking to compile software I’m not sure the EinSDein will help. I have one and when exiting all of the languages I have tried (e.g. to try out a program I had just compiled) it just hangs. Could be my computer but I think Charlie suggested it was probably a bug in the support ROM.
In order to try out the compiled program I would have to reset the tatty.

Ah grand. In which case I'll try that first. At ease everyone!
