I'm doing fine. Following my earlier spurt of activity, 'Alberto' is currently pushed to the back of my work desk while I catch up on other fun things, but his time will come again!
Best wishes to all!

Re: The serial communication thread
Since then , I have uploaded my entire Einstein software collection first to a PC, then onward to 'The Cloud'... and I've unearthed another 'domino' plug from my bags of tricks and made a second cable with better (but still not particularly good) soldering. In the other direction, I can currently ...

Re: Wanted: System Disc for TC01
Hi van Peebles (sorry; if I go looking fo ryour proper name, I may get sidetracked again!),
Do you still need a system disk? if so, Is a TC01 (64k) system disk version 1.31 OK?

The serial communication thread
The title "The serial communication thread" is perhaps presumptuous.. perhaps no one else uses or cares about the RS232C port of their own little Albert(s) anymore... well let's see. I am using the RS232 port connected to a PC which itself runs an "Albert server" in order to support 'remote' disk ...

XDOS versions [Re: xXDOS (=extended XDOS) - work in progress]
A quick question if I may.
Is anyone using an XDOS version other than 1.11 and 1.31? if so, could you go into MOS and check that the locations E168 through E2FF all contain FF?
This is so I can safely use that region for my (x)XDOS extension code.
Thanks,
Larry

xXDOS (=extended XDOS) - work in progress
Hi folks, I thought it about time to come clean on how I'm spending my newly found quality time with my Einstens. (Only 2 - unlike some show-offs whom I won't name): For a start, I'm still doing some native development on Einstein, as opposed to using emulation and cross-tools on the PC. Having said ...
Re: Welcome! (actual re: serial numbers!)
Hi All, I am in possession of 2 Einsteins with the following serial numbers: #6003373 bought be me, full-price in the first year of availability I think. #6004500 bought by my father-in-law, a few(?) year later, when Currys or Dixons were selling cut-price bundles. I can dig out more detailed ...

Re: Wanted - BBC Basic Manual
Did you get your BBC Basic manual in the end? Otherwise, I have a copy that I might be persuaded to part with.

Re: Help with External Drives please, and booting Externally from MOS
Hi, I still have the document supplied when I bought my extra drive... but I failed to scan it.. but it's a pretty poor document anyway... Let's see if I can do better! This mini-howto is based around the original Einstein but most of it should still apply. (0. I find it comforting to take photos at ...

Re: Help with External Drives please, and booting Externally from MOS
Hi, A "thinking outside the box solution" (which you will therefore perhaps regard as no solution at all!) would be to jumper your internal drive to be e drive 1,2 or 3) - this is quite easy, certainly on the original Einstein - and jumper your external drive to be drive 0. I did something similar ...
