I've managed to fix the vertical deflection issue - several potentiometers were dirty/bad, primarily the height potentiometer, and there were a lot of bad solder joints on the mainboard, particularly on the larger power resistors. So, I now get a recognisable image with the full height of the ...

I’ve got one of these with a vertical collapse but it’s been on the back burner for a good while now. I did similar steps to you but I never did get to the bottom of it, I was a bit concerned there was corrosion in the yoke but I need to take apart a worker to compare.
